How scoring works in 60 seconds

Distance points + style points. Five judges score each jump for form, landing, and flight. The highest and lowest scores are dropped. Distance is measured to the half-meter. Two rounds; combined score wins.

If you're new to Ski Jumping

Ski jumpers launch off a ramp, soar through the air for 90–140 meters, and try to land as far and as gracefully as possible. The V-style technique maximizes lift. It looks impossible — but the landing is the hard part.

Ski Jumping Schedule

Ski jumping soars from the Trampolino in Predazzo, one of the classic Nordic jumping venues. The program includes individual normal hill, individual large hill, team large hill, and mixed team events, spread across the first two weeks of the Games.

Qualifying rounds and competition rounds are typically split across consecutive days. Jump sessions are often scheduled in the late afternoon or evening Italian time, which puts them in the 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. ET / 8:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m. PT range — convenient for American audiences.

The individual large hill final and the team event are the marquee sessions. Austria, Germany, Poland, Norway, and Japan all have realistic gold-medal contenders. The mixed team event, still relatively new to the program, adds an unpredictable wrinkle. Wind conditions at Predazzo can shuffle the results on any given day.
