Gold medals start flying. The first full day of competition at Milano Cortina 2026 is traditionally one of the most electric days of any Olympics, and this one should be no different. Expect the first medals in biathlon (mixed relay), cross-country skiing (skiathlon), short track speed skating, freestyle skiing (moguls), and speed skating at the outdoor oval in Baselga di Piné.
Ski jumping qualifying rounds get underway at the Predazzo trampolino, and luge training runs continue on the Cortina sliding track. Figure skating may begin team event qualifying, which always draws strong U.S. interest.
The early-morning ET windows (3:00–7:00 a.m. ET / 12:00–4:00 a.m. PT) will carry most of the live action, with afternoon events in Italy wrapping up by late morning Eastern. Plan on a big viewing day — this is when the medal table starts to take shape.
