2026 Winter Olympics Medal Count
Norway has owned the top of the Winter Olympic medal table for the better part of a decade. Between Pyeongchang 2018 and Beijing 2022, the Norwegians racked up gold at a staggering pace, fueled by dominance in cross-country skiing, biathlon, and the Nordic events. Heading into Milano Cortina, there’s no reason to expect that to change — but the margins are tighter than you’d think.
Germany remains dangerous across biathlon, luge, bobsled, and speed skating. The United States typically lands in the top four or five, with alpine skiing, snowboarding, and figure skating driving the medal count. Canada brings depth in ice hockey, freestyle skiing, and short track, while host nation Italy will have a passionate home crowd pushing athletes in alpine skiing, biathlon, and the sliding sports.
Sweden, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, and South Korea are all capable of double-digit medal hauls depending on how their star athletes perform.
Track every gold, silver, and bronze as it’s awarded. The medal race is one of the best subplots of any Olympics — and in 2026, it starts on Day 2.
Historical comparison
At Beijing 2022, Norway led with 37 medals (16 gold, 8 silver, 13 bronze). The United States finished with 25 medals (8 gold, 10 silver, 7 bronze).
